IQNA – The Grand Mufti of Egypt deplored the genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, saying that the tragedy of Gaza exposes the falsehood of many humanitarian slogans.

Grand Mufti of Egypt Nazir Mohamed Ayyad received a high-ranking delegation from Palestine on Sunday, July 6, 2025.

Nazir Mohamed Ayyad on Sunday received a high-ranking delegation from Palestine.

During the meeting, he underscored his firm support for the Palestinian cause, El-Balad News reported.

The Palestinian cause is a central issue that will remain in the hearts and living consciences of the Islamic Ummah, because it is a matter of belief and identity that stems from the religious and cultural awareness of the Islamic Ummah, Ayyad said.

He added that supporting this ideal is not a favor, but rather a responsibility and right that religious and historical ties and destiny have placed on the shoulders of Muslims.

The brutal aggression against the Palestinians and the continuous violation of the rights of the people of the Gaza Strip are a bloody wound on the body of the entire Islamic Ummah, and this tragedy reveals the falsehood of many humanitarian slogans and exposes double standards, he stated.

The steadfastness and sacrifices of the people of Gaza are a rare example of perseverance, firm faith in the divine promise, and opposition to efforts to subjugate and dominate nations, the senior cleric went on to say.

Ayyad pointed to Egypt’s consistent position on the Palestinian issue and its opposition to the displacement of Palestinians and the destruction of their just cause, and emphasized that the Egyptian government’s position on this issue reflects a sense of duty and responsibility towards the Palestinian issue and the historical and fraternal roots between the two nations.
