Algeria’s Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments has organized a traveling Quran recitation caravan, in cooperation with the Mascara Provincial Office of Tourism and Handicrafts. The program began on Friday, July 11, under the theme “The Light of the Quran Guides Us and the Memory of the Free Is Our Commitment,” according to a report by Al-Ittihad.
The caravan's first stop was the central Imam Muslim Mosque in the city of Mascara, where well-known Algerian reciters including Abdelaziz Sahim, Abdelkarim Belhassen, and Abdelmonem Baroudi performed Quran recitations.
Over the course of three days, the caravan is scheduled to visit and host events in mosques located in several towns and cities, including Mascara, El Kharroub, Ghriss, Tighenif, Oued Tagaia, Mohammadia, Froha, El Bordj, Ain Farès, and Bouhanifia.

Ali Zenadra, head of the Mascara Department of Religious Affairs and Endowments, said that ten Quran reciters from across the country are taking part in the caravan, which will deliver their recitations during visits to various mosques.
In addition to the recitations, the event includes a range of religious activities, such as ibtihal, with participation from students at local Quranic schools and religious centers known as zawiyas.

Religious lectures and lessons on the virtues of memorizing and reciting the Quran will also be delivered by mosque leaders and officials from the Department of Religious Affairs.
Zenadra added that the program will conclude with a religious ceremony at the Othman Ibn Affan Mosque in Mascara. The closing ceremony will honor the participating reciters, as well as young Quran memorizers aged 9 to 14 enrolled in the province’s Quranic schools.
