IQNA – A two-week training programme on strategic innovation management for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) will be held in Hyderabad, India, this September under India’s ITEC programme.

Innovation Management Course for SME Development Set in India

The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) will run the course, titled “Empowering SMEs Globally through Strategic Innovation Management,” from September 8 to 19, 2025.

The initiative is supported by the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

The programme is designed to equip participants with practical skills to manage the entire innovation cycle.

It will cover areas such as enhancing SME competitiveness through research and development, guiding ideas from conception to market, reducing intellectual property risks, building cultures of creativity, and leveraging emerging technologies including artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.

It will also address strategic collaboration, technology licensing, and the development of comprehensive innovation strategies tailored to different national contexts.

Organisers say the training aims to strengthen the capacity of professionals to drive innovation-led growth in ways that are globally relevant and locally adaptable.

By the end of the course, participants are expected to be able to design and implement strategies aligned with broader goals of development and competitiveness.

Eligible participants include policymakers, officials from public and private sector organisations, and professionals from research, academic, and entrepreneurial backgrounds who are involved in innovation management, technology transfer, or intellectual property.

Applicants must hold a university degree in a relevant field and have at least three years of related work experience.

Last year, the Academic Centre for Education, Culture, and Research in Iran signed a cooperation agreement with the Regional Centre for Science and Technology Transfer of the Indian Ocean Rim Association. The partnership reflects broader regional efforts to advance innovation and technology exchange, in line with the goals of the training programme.

Applications for the course close on August 25, 2025. Given the limited number of seats, the Ministry of External Affairs will shortlist candidates on a first-come, first-served basis.
