The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Cultural Office and Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs will collaborate on the first International Quran Competition in Pakistan. It is set to take place in late November in Islamabad.
At a meeting in Islamabad, Qari Sadaqat Ali, Executive Director of the competition, met with Majid Meshki, Iranian Cultural attaché to Pakistan. They discussed the contest’s organization and practical arrangements.
Qari Sadaqat Ali commended Iran’s progress in Quranic sciences. He said Iran is one of the leading countries “in various Quranic arts and sciences.”
He noted that having an Iranian judge for this competition would be an honor. He also expressed hope that the Iranian qari (reciter) representative will win a top prize.

Majid Meshki thanked Pakistan for initiating the competition. He observed that the passion and excitement of the Pakistani people for Quranic gatherings is “almost unmatched in the Islamic world.”
He added that people from all walks of life in Pakistan have shown a strong interest in Quranic events.
Meshki also expressed Iran’s hope that the competition will become one of the most important Quranic events globally.
The competition will be held from November 24 to 29, 2025, in Islamabad, according to Pakistani media reports.
Qaris from 57 Islamic countries are expected to participate. The contest will test their skills in Tajweed and recitation.
Distinguished guests are also expected for the awards ceremony. These include Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, Imam of the Kaaba, and Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
