
Alireza Rashidian said on Sunday that he is visiting Saudi Arabia to conclude negotiations for the upcoming Hajj and participate in the upcoming Hajj conference and exhibition.
“I hope to have good achievements for our country in these meetings.”
He also announced the conclusion of accommodation contracts for Hajj 2026 and said there has been a three to five percent reduction in housing prices compared to last year.
“We are also trying to finalize the transportation and food contracts to reach the final price of Hajj and announce it so that registration in the Hajj caravans can begin in practice.”
According to the official, so far, more than 52,000 Iranians have registered for Hajj 2026, of whom 28,845 are women and more than 23,000 are men.
The average age of pilgrims is 57 years, similar to last year, he said, noting that pilgrims from Razavi Khorasan and Tehran provinces are leading the registrations.
He further said there has been an increase in Umrah trips, noting that Umrah flights started in August from 17 flight stations to Jeddah and Medina.
Since then, 54,300 people have set off for Umrah pilgrimage, and during the upcoming months of Rajab, Shaaban, and Ramadan, “we expect an increase in Umrah applicants.”

Umrah is a Mustahab (recommended but not obligatory) pilgrimage to Mecca which Muslims can take at any time of the year, unlike the Hajj pilgrimage that is obligatory for every able-bodied and financially able Muslim once in their lifetime and can be performed only in the first days of the lunar Hijri month of Dhul Hajja.
