At this exhibition, the names of Palestinian martyrs of Gaza have been embroidered on fabric panels, according to Al-Alam.
This art project was initiated and supervised by Irish civil activist Mary Evers, and was presented in the framework of the “Palestine Voice Festival” in London; a festival that focuses on the narrative of the culture, art, and resistance of the Palestinian people.
The exhibition is titled “Absent Presence” and allows visitors to observe the panels on which the names of the war victims have been embroidered in the colors of the Palestinian flag.
Evers said on the sidelines of the event that the idea for it was inspired by the original art of embroidery by Palestinian women.
She added that many volunteers from around the world have joined her in participating in this work, and ultimately more than 200 volunteers helped her complete the project.
According to Evers, each piece of art includes the name, age, and gender of each person killed in the Israeli regime’s war on Gaza, with the aim of reminding everyone that Palestinian victims are not “faceless numbers”.
