Ayatollah Qassim Stresses Release of Hassan Mushaima from Al Khalifa Prison

IQNA – Bahrain’s top Shia cleric Ayatollah Sheikh Isa Qassim deplored the poor physical condition of political activist Hassan Mushaima in prison, saying it makes his immediate release imperative.

Ayatollah Qassim issued a statement regarding the poor physical condition of Mushaima in Al Khalifa Prison, stating that opposition to the Manama regime’s policies and the demand for rights will only stop when injustice and oppression are completely stopped.

The statement added that the deteriorating condition of Mushaima in prison, his severe and serious illnesses that have endangered and threaten his life, and his solitary confinement and disregard for his medical care, which is a clear disregard for his human dignity, necessitate his immediate release.

Ayatollah Qassim emphasized that this is especially the case given that his imprisonment is due to his support for the rights of the people and respect for their freedom; a right that has been cruelly denied to him and countless others.

The statement continued by stressing that all freedom-loving citizens who believe in and respect the rights and demands of the people for dignified freedom, call on the government to release its political prisoners, including prominent figures, and that this is a fundamental, primary, and natural right of the nation that has been usurped, and this demand will continue unabated until it is fully achieved.

The Bahraini top cleric emphasized that opposition to the regime’s policies and the demand for rights will only stop when injustice and oppression stop altogether.

“Can a sane person deny this demand for rights?” he concluded.
