Nouri al-Maliki Likely to Be Iraq’s Next PM

IQNA – Nouri al-Maliki, head of the State of Law coalition and a former prime minister of was officially nominated by the Iraqi Shia Coordination Framework for the post of Iraq’s prime minister.

The the Shia Coordination Framework, which is the largest faction in the new Iraqi parliament, officially introduced al-Maliki as the faction's candidate to assume the position of prime minister of Iraq.

The statement of the Shia bloc said in a statement: It was decided by a majority of votes to introduce Nouri al-Maliki as the candidate of the largest parliamentary faction for the post of prime minister, based on his political and administrative experience and his role in managing the country.

In addition to heading the Dawa Party and the State of Law coalition, al-Maliki was previously the prime minister of Iraq for 8 years.
