Esmaeil Baghaei made the remark at a press conference in Tehran on Monday in response to the recent US military exercises in the region and new threats from Washington and the Zionist regime.
“We continue to face combined threats from enemies. Countries in the region are well aware that the main target of any insecurity in this region is not only Iran and that these threats affect the interests of all countries in the region. For this reason, there is a common concern among the countries in the region,” he said.
Regarding the presence of the US Navy in the region and Iran’s reaction, he said military moves and threats will have no effect on Iran’s will to decisively defend its sovereignty and people.
“The armed forces of the Islamic Republic are closely monitoring developments and will not neglect to enhance their defense capabilities for a moment.”
The spokesman added that sending troops and military threats are contrary to international principles and rules. “The US has repeatedly ignored these principles. Violating them will bring insecurity to all countries. Therefore, countries in the region are trying to prevent any miscalculations.”
Elsewhere in his remarks, Baghaei said, “We are still witnessing the Zionist regime’s seditionist actions in the region. The source of many unrests and crises in West Asia, including in Syria, Lebanon, Gaza and other regions, is the Zionist regime.”

He emphasized that despite the apparent ceasefire in Palestine and Lebanon, the Zionist regime’s attacks on the people continue. “Last night, the Zionist regime violated Lebanese airspace 15 times, which resulted in the injury of several Lebanese citizens.”
He pointed out that since the ceasefire was established in Lebanon, more than 6,000 ceasefire violations by the Zionist regime have been reported, and the regime’s crimes against Palestinians also continue.
