--The US and the UK have once again resorted to their old tactic of inflaming differences between Shiites and Sunnis.
Tehran's interim Friday Prayers leader who was addressing worshippers at Tehran University campus today added “Since the advent of Islam, the enemies have always tried to undermine the religion with cultural and military measures.”

Ayatollah Emami Kashani noted that one of the cultural moves adopted by the colonialist Britain to weaken Muslim nations was inflaming the differences between Shiites and Sunnis. “They tried to spread prejudices among the followers of the two sects against each other. After the victory of the Islamic Revolution in Iran the enemies once again tried out this ploy but disgracefully failed. Then they resorted to threats and bullying which was of course of no use, either.”

He said that the United States and Britain have recently started their old tactic yet again. “Their media also stoke differences between Shiites and Sunnis in various manners. The US and Britain do not know what to do with us. They sometimes talk of sectarian differences, now and then bring up the issue of sanctions against Iran and the other day, they raided the Iranian consulate in Irbil. Everyone knows that such policies and tactics have always failed. However, it is incumbent upon us to stay vigilant against these ploys.”

Ayatollah Emami Kashani regarded solidarity- genuine solidarity- between Shiites and Sunnis as imperative and noted that the supreme leader of the Islamic Revolution also highlighted the need for strengthening solidarity and unity among Muslims.

He also said that Iranians will respond to the enemies’ ploys by their massive turnout at the Bahman 22 (February 11) rallies which mark the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Tehran's interim Friday Prayers leader elaborated on various aspects of Imam Hossein’s (AS) movement and the importance of mourning his martyrdom.
