--On the auspicious occasion of Nimmeh Sha’aban- birthday anniversary of Imam Zaman (may God hasten his glad advent) - Iran’s cultural consulate in Syria holds a Quran competition on Sunday.
Hossein Shafeeie, Iranian cultural attaché in Syria, told IQNA that the competition is held at Imam Khomeini Hall of the Consulate in the categories of recitation, memorization and Tajweed.

He said that the contest has been well received by both Shias and Sunnis, adding that men take part in the event on Sunday and the competition for women is slated for Monday.

Shafeeie noted that a judging panel of Iranian and Syrian Quranic scholars will evaluate the participants’ performances and the result of the competition will be announced by the middle of the holy month of Ramadan.
