The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) , Women’s Wing, observed World Hijab Day as Day of Promotion of Hijab on Sunday, September 4.
In her message issued on the day, Raana Fazal, Nazima, Women’s Wing, Jamaat-e Islami Pakistan, said that Hijab, the veil was an integral part of the everyday life of hundreds of millions of women across the globe. It was no wonder that the commandment of Hijab was found in so many religious books including the Torah, Bible, and the Quran and Hijab was practiced in many cultures. For Muslim women Hijab was not only a basic human right, but also a religious one.
The West, she said was propagating against Hijab and many European countries had imposed a ban on it. Strange enough that the champions of human rights are usurping the fundamental rights. These so-called modern countries had dual standards, she said.
She appealed to the international community to play their role in lifting the ban on the Hijab in France, Germany, and other European countries. She said it was time that Hijab culture should be promoted through social media and networks to eliminate vulgarity from society.
In this connection she said banners and posters would be displayed at important intersections of the city. To promote Hijab culture she said Hijab and veils would be distributed among the women. A special Hijab festival has also been arranged, she said.
Rukhsana Jabeen, General Secretary, JI Women’s Wing condemned discriminatory laws of the Europe and appealed to all to celebrate the day as it is the identity of the Muslim women so that people should learn to respect women.
The JI Women’s Wing, joins the celebration internationally and requests people of conscience, male and female, Muslims and Non-Muslims, to stand up for this fundamental right of women. International Hijab Solidarity Day is important to all of us and cannot be ignored. They said that the West was trying its best to eliminate Islamic values and norms from the country.
