On the occasion of the beginning of Dhul-Hijjah, the month of Hajj, grand Ayatollah Safi Golpayegani issued a message.
In his message the grand source of emulation said the message of the great gathering of Hajj is the Quranic verse “Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous of you.” (Quran, 49:13)
He referred to verse 36 of Surah At-Tawba “Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allah [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred,” and said the month of Dhul-Hijjah, which is one of the four sacred months, has arrived and, like every year, hundreds of thousands of people from around the world gather for Hajj in Masjid Al-Haram, demonstrating fraternity of Muslim Ummah to the world.
All of the Hajjis, regardless of their race, geographical origin and apparent differences, have come together to worship God, he noted.
The grand Ayatollah warned the Hajjis to be vigilant not to lose a minute or even a second of this great opportunity.
He stressed that all aspects of the ritual of Hajj are an announcement of monotheism and a testimony of the oneness of God.
The annual Hajj pilgrimage has begun in the holy city of Makkah with around two million Hajj pilgrims gathering in the city.
Hajj culminates in the prayer on Mount Arafat and ends in the Eid Al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) on the 10th day of Dhul-Hijjah (November 7 this year).
