Secretary general of Hezbollah said the resistance movement of the Lebanese people was inspired by the school of Karbala.
Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah was speaking on Saturday night, the seventh night of the lunar month of Muharram, in a mourning ceremony held in Beirut to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS).
He said the resistance movement has remained committed to such values as self-sacrifice in the Path of God, sincerity, and ethics because of following the school of Karbala.
He added that by sticking to Husseini (AS) school, the Lebanese resistance movement has not been defeated in the past 28 years despite suffering from all the wars, acts of terror, arrests, and plots hatched against it.
Nasrallah also referred to the Islamic Revolution of Iran led by Imam Khomeini (AS) and said it, too, was inspired by the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS).
He quoted Imam Khomeini (RA) as saying “Whatever we have is earned from Imam Hussein’s (AS) Ashura”.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Hezbollah leader referred to the efforts of Imam Musa Sadr for upholding peace in Lebanon and reviving Islam in the country, saying Sadr was always ready for self-sacrifice and never wavered in his path despite all the challenges facing him.
