Quran Contest to Be Held in NE USA

Plans are underway for holding a Quran competition on 28th April 2012 in New England, the US.
The Islamic Organization of Iranians in New England in cooperation with Islamic Masumeen Center of New England will organize the 12th edition of the event with the aim of getting the participants further acquainted with the Holy Quran, its translation and concepts.
The competition will start at 2:30pm.
There are five components in this competition. They are as follows:
1. Memorization
Level 1: Surah Rahmaan (55), Level 2: Surah Saff (61), Level 3: Surah Infitar (82)
2. Recitation
The Recitation Test will be based on the Ayats 1 to 37 of Surah Aal-e-Imran.
3. Concept Test
This is a written multiple choice test taken by the participants as well as the general audience (parents, teachers, etc.) of the competition. The Concept Test will be based on Surah Rahman, Surah Saff, Surah Infitar, and Surah Aal-e-Imran (Ayat 1-37 only)
4. Poster Competition
The Poster Competition will be based on the same Ayats that are in the Concept Test. The poster should be a drawing (with optional calligraphy and text) and should be prepared on the concepts and inner meanings of the Quranic ayaats. It will be graded on written content, concepts captured, format, focus, as well as its organization and its artistic attributes.
5. Small Surah
All the participating children ages 5 or younger (based on April 1 2012) will be given the opportunity to recite any small Surah of their choice (e.g. Surah Fatihah, Surah Tauhid, etc)
The rules of the contest are as follows:
1. Registration by April 15, 2012, is required.
2. The participants in the memorization test can choose only one level.
3. The reward will be based on the selected level. There is no age limit for the memorization.
4. There is no age limit to participate in the recitation test as long as the participant can verify that he or she is currently attending a recitation class. Otherwise, the maximum age for the recitation participants is age 22.
5. The concept test and poster competition is open to everybody. However, those who will be participating in memorization, retention, and/or recitation will receive a greater reward.
6. Those participating in the poster competition should submit the poster by April 21 2012
7.All the participants in memorization, retention, and recitation will be tested on their recitation skills. There will be an advanced level of participation that will be tested on Tajweed skills as well.
8. For those participating in memorization and/or recitation, their concept test scores are eligible for rewards only if the score is 50% or above.
9. All poster submissions will be divided into three categories based on the cut-off age of the contestant - Group 1: 10 years and under Group 2: 11-18 years old. Group 3: 19 years and older.

The registration deadline is April 15, 2012.
