French police have arrested about 100 people in Paris for attending a demonstration near the US Embassy and the Interior Ministry.
On Saturday, Muslim demonstrators gathered in front of the US Embassy to protest against a blasphemous movie that disrespects Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), which was produced in the United States, and about 100 were arrested. TV images showed protesters praying on the wide sidewalks.
There have been demonstrations over the blasphemous film outside US diplomatic posts in several countries across the world.
The protesters say the people involved in the production of the film should be prosecuted, US diplomats should be expelled from their countries, and the US government should offer an apology.
In Yemen, five protesters were killed on September 13 and 14 by security forces outside the US Embassy in Sana’a.
On September 11, demonstrators in Libya attacked the US consulate building in the city of Benghazi. US Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three staff members were killed in the incident.
