Manama’s Friday prayer leader Ayatollah Sheikh Issa Ghassem regarded political oppression as the root cause of problems in Bahrain.
In his Friday prayer sermon at Imam Sadeq (AS) Mosque yesterday, he regretted that the Al-e Khalifa regime refuses any solution for getting out of the current situation.
Ayatollah Ghassem said the regime insists on terrorist measures and tries to solve the country’s problems using security measures and sweeping punishments.
He added that the detention of preachers and Mubalighs (propagators) during the month of Muharram was yet another crime committed by the Al-e Khalifa regime.
The Shia leader referred to the Charter of No Violence signed by political movements and said a similar charter should have been prepared by the officials for avoiding destruction of homes and killing Bahrainis with suffocating gases.
“It would also be a proper course of action, as recommended by the fact-finding committee, to put an end to night raids into people’s houses, prosecute those who trampled on the rights of people, release those arrested and allow demonstrations.”
