In Sierra Leone, Iranian Consulate End Quran Competition in Freetown

The Iranian Cultural Consulate in Sierra Leone has ended its Annual Quranic Competition which attracted over seventy (70) participants nationwide.
The ceremony was held at a jam-packed hall on Saturday 27th July, 2013 which coincides with the 18th day of Ramadan 1434.
In his opening remarks the Iranian Cultural Consulate Mohamed Reza Ghezlelsofla emphasized the importance of the Holy Quran which was revealed to the Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). He reiterated the importance of reading the Holy Quran in the Month of Ramadan.
He encouraged Muslims to always recite the Holy Quran and more so try to ponder on its meanings as this will not only help the person but will contribute to national development in the country. He expressed his gratitude for the huge cooperation of the people as every year the number of participants keep growing.
The Quranic competition was divided into three categories memorization, recitation and translation of the Holy Quran.
The memorization of the Holy Quran was divided into eight (8) categories, such as the complete Quran (30 Juzes), half (15 Juzes), one third (10 Juzes), 5, 4, 3 and 2 Juzes and 1 Juz respectively. Several prizes were distributed including cash, Holy Quran copies and Islamic literatures.
The program was chaired by Alpha Rashid Jalloh and Judges were Lt. Col. Mohamed Bilal Conteh Armed Forces Chief Imam, Sheikh Ibrahim K. Kamara, Sheikh Alimamy Sesay and Alhaji Abdul Rahman Hamid Chief Imam Jamieu Salam.
