Organization of Mourning Ceremonies Discussed in Pakistan

Officials of the Iranian Cultural Center in Lahore and Jamiat-ol-Muntazar Seminary School of the city discussed the organization of a seminar on problems and challenges of mourning for religious figures in Pakistan.
According to IQNA’s branch in West Asia, Islamic Culture and Relations Organization announced that the importance and necessity of holding the seminar was discussed at a meeting with the participation of Ghazi Niyaz Hussein Naqwi, head of the school and Abdulreza Sultani, in charge of the Iranian center.
The Pakistani official said that holding such programs plays an important role in creating unity between Shia and Sunni Muslims, rectify religious beliefs of the people and prevent wrong religious beliefs to be developed in the society.
Referring to the objectives of Imam Hussein’s uprising which were promotion of Islamic principles and salvation of human being, the Iranian representative said that scientific and religious seminars and forums should be held with the participation of cultural, academic and religious figures and scholars in Pakistan so that the people can get answers for their religious questions and doubts.
He also added that such programs will promote unity between Shia and Sunni brothers in the country and prevent superstitions to be developed among the people.
The officials agreed to held a joint seminar on “the problems and challenges of mourning in Pakistan” before the beginning of the month of Muharram.
