Winners of Students Quran Contest Honored in Senegal

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Winners of a Quran competition for students in Senegal were awarded at a ceremony in the African country’s city of Thies.

 It was held at Mubin al-Huda Islamic Institute and was attended by the Iranian Cultural Attaché Hassan Zakeri.

 

The ceremony also marked the graduation of a number students from the Islamic institute, the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) reported.


Addressing the event, director of the institute Muhammad Dayub elaborated on its cultural and educational activities.


He also underlined the importance of education based on the teachings of Islam and the Quran.


Dayub reiterated that the only way for resolving the problems of the Islamic world and reaching unity in the Muslim Ummah is acting upon the teachings of the Quran and Etrat.


The Mubin al-Huda Islamic Institute in Thies has some 200 students and offer courses on Quran memorization and recitation.


Senegal is a country in West Africa with a population of around 15 million.


Islam is the predominant religion in the country where 92 percent of the country's population is estimated to be Muslim.
