Delivering a speech on the third night of Muharram, the first lunar Hijri month, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah also underlined that Islam requires Muslims to feel responsibility towards fellow Muslims and others.
“It is our responsibility to feel responsibility about the Muslim Ummah and Islamic sanctities,” he stated.
Nasrallah further referred to the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and said Imam Hussein (AS) sacrificed his life to protect Islam.
Shia Muslims, and others in different parts of the world, started holding ceremonies from Thursday to mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions in the month of Muharram.
Imam Hussein (AS) and a small group of his followers and family members, including Hazrat Ali Asghar (AS), were martyred by the tyrant of his time - Yazid Bin Moaweya.
They were martyred in the battle of Karbala on Ashura- the tenth day of Muharram which is the first month on the lunar calendar.
Muharram mourning ceremonies reach their climax at noon on Ashura.
