TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 4th edition of the “Haleef Al-Quran” International Cultural Festival has been underway since October 30 in Babil Governorate of Iraq.

According to almasalla.trave website, the festival has been organized under the supervision of the custodianship of Shia holy sites in Iraq.

Representatives of cultural institutes from different countries, cultural and academic figures, representatives of the holy shrines in Iraq, lecturers and teachers of Najaf Seminary School and Iraqi researchers and scholars have participated in the program.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the festival, Sheikh Qasim Al-Husnawi, custodian of the holy shrine of Hazrat Zayd (AS), said that the movement of Hazrat Zayd (AS) is very similar to the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS), since both movements were against the wrong culture governing the society of that time which was paying obedience to a tyrant instead of God.

Also addressing the program, Sheikh Karar Al-Qasimi, representing the custodians of Iraqi Shia holy sites, said that Zayd ibn Ali (AS) led a great movement for enjoining towards good and preventing from evil.

Zayd ibn Ali (AS) is the son of Imam Sajjad (AS) and grandson of Imam Hussein (AS), the grandson of Holy Prophet (PBUH). Zayd was born in Medina in 695.

Zayd was a revered and respected member of the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS). Scholars, Saints, Sufis and Imams alike, all spoke of him in respectable terms.

There is a narration that when describing Zayd, Imam Ja’far al-Sadiq (AS) said: “Among us he was the best read in the Holy Qur'an, and the most knowledgeable about religion, and the most caring towards family and relatives.” Hence he was given the title “Haleef Al-Quran” (ally of the Quran).
