1,500 Emirati Students to Take Part in Quran Contest
The annual contest is expected to see a tough competition from around 1,500 male and female students of all grades from government and private schools this year, according to a top official.
Abdullah Ali bin Zayed, executive director of Dabs, said application to the popular competition is open until March 3.
The competition is meant to build up a well-mannered generation fully aware of the values of the Holy Quran and the Sunnahs (teachings, way of life) of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), he added. "Encouraging young people to memorize the Quran will have a positive impact on their life."
The competition adopts a moderate method to help create a highly qualified generation as advised by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and in line with the directives of the prudent leadership, bin Zayed said.
"The competition was launched in 2011 under the sponsorship of Shaikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, and with full support from Dr Shaikh Majid bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, Chairman Ruler's Court Ajman."
Khalid Abdulwahhab Al Khajah, Manager of Dar Al Ber Society Ajman, and Chairman of the competition organ sing committee, said the contest is gaining popularity among school students.
