TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 21st edition of the Quran and Etrat competition of Iran’s medical universities concluded in the northeastern city of Mashhad on Friday.

Winners of different categories were announced at the closing ceremony held at Mashhad University fo Medical Sciences.

The ceremony began with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by prominent Qari Qassem Raziei, who is also a physician.

Next, Mohammad Mehdi Bahrololum, head of the Quran and Etrat Center of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, presented a reported on the 21st edition of the competition.

He said more than 25,000 students, professors and staff members of the country’s medical universities took part in this competition, which shows a 66 percent growth compared to the previous edition.

He added that registration for the next edition will start after the lunar month of Muharram (October), predicting that some 50,000 individuals will take part in the next year’s contest.

Later, winners of different categories of the competition received their awards.

The competition was held in such fields as research, arts, book reading, and the teachings of the Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS).
