Speaking ahead of the lunar month of Muharram in Sayyed Al-Shuhada complex in Beirut’s southern suburb, he said that today’s events prove Ashura’s main lesson that blood triumphs over sword.

Nasrallah called on people for wide participation of Lebanese people in Ashura ceremonies marking the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS).

"Islam survived, spread and expanded because of sacrifices of Imam Hussein (AS),” he stated.

He said that Imam Hussein (AS) after more than 1400 years still awakens people.

According to Nasrallah, it was the Ashura uprising that inspired the Islamic revolution of Iran and the Islamic resistance of Lebanon, Hezbollah, as well as fighting all Takfiri groups.

Every year during Muharram, the first month in the lunar Hijri calendar, Shia Muslims around the world hold ceremonies to mourn the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS) and his faithful companions in the Battle of Karbala in 680 A.D.

The Hezbollah secretary general referred to the resistance movement’s victories against enemies and said that the highest level of victory is achieved when the enemy is prevented from gaining its goals.
