The Executive Secretary of Islamic Education Bureau, Dr Yakubu Abbas, disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the competition on Thursday in the Dutse, the state’s capital city.
Abbas said that the competition has been organized by Jigawa state ministry of education, the Daily Trust reported.
He explained that 324 students were currently participating in the competition, which will continue until December 22.
The executive secretary added that 12 students were drawn from each of the 27 local government areas of the state.
According to him, the participants were selected after emerging winners at various categories in similar competition organized at the local government level.
Abbas noted that the participants, comprising of male and females, would compete in six different categories.
He, therefore, urged the participants to put in their best, as prizes would be given to winners.
The executive secretary added that the winners would also represent the state at the national Quran recitation competition in 2017.
