Certain Arab Countries Complicit in Israeli Plots
Speaking to IQNA, Allameh Abdul Qader Tarnani said such countries by making concessions to Israel in political, economic, commercial and military fields and plunging the region in sectarian conflicts have acted in favor of Zionist plots whose main aim is dividing the Muslim Ummah.
He said the West, despite its claims to be advocate of human rights, is doing nothing to stop the Zionist regime’s aggressions against the oppressed Palestinian nation.
Where have human rights organizations been in the past seven decades when Israel has been committing crimes against Palestinians, he asked.
Even the Muslim world has been paying little attention to the issue of Palestine and Quds (Jerusalem), he deplored.
Allameh Tarnani underlined that the holy city of Quds, home to the sanctities of great faiths, is worthy of more global attention, especially from Muslims.
He further referred to the ban on Adhan (call to prayers) and described it as a move by the Zionist regime to test the Muslim world’s patience.
In March, the Israeli parliament, Knesset gave its preliminary approval to a bill that would silence mosques. The "muezzin” bill was passed in the preliminary reading by 55-48 votes.
The bill makes no mention of any specific religion, but it has become known as the "muezzin bill or law” as it blocks the traditional Muslim call to prayer that is broadcast through speakers mounted on mosques’ minarets.
It sparked outrage among Muslims, Christians and Jews across the occupied Palestinian territories.
But according to Allameh Tarnani, it is not enough. He regretted that no Arab, Western, Islamic or Christian rights organization stood up against the ban and Israeli insults to Muslim, Christians and Jewish sanctities.
The Lebanese scholar said the Zionist regime has come to the conclusion that the world does not care about Palestine.
"Unfortunately, the rulers of some Arab and Muslim countries do not care about Quds and make no efforts for liberation of the holy city,” he stated.
Asked about the role of religious scholars in defending Quds and countering the Zionist regime’s plots, he said they can and must play a major part in this area.
However, he said, true scholars who can change the situation have been sidelined in the Arab and Muslim world and those who use their position for personal gains are in charge of the media, institutions and universities.
