TEHRAN (IQNA) – A “Holocaust” photo exhibition planned in Tunisia was called off after protests from political and social activists.

Habib Kazdaghli, a Tunisian academic figure, has sought to mount the expo at the country’s national library, according to Russia Al-Yawm website.

But it drew protests by activists who described the planned move as an attempt to normalize ties with the Zionist regime of Israel.

The protesters voiced their support for the Palestinian nation and described the expo as an attempt to exaggerate the Holocaust and use it as a pretext for Israel to commit more crimes.

The organizers claimed the expo was aimed at condemning Nazis’ crimes against Jews, saying a distinction should be made between followers of Judaism and the inhumane actions of the Zionist regime against the Palestinian nation.

The North African country’s parliament has been discussing a bill that, if passed, would require a 5-year jail sentence and cash fines for those making attempts aimed at normalization of Tunisia’s ties with Israel.
