Iran Quran Activists Congratulate Dehqan on Success in Malaysia Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian Quran activists congratulated the country’s representative in Malaysia international Quran contest for his success in the international event.

Dehqan finished runner-up in the recitation category of the competition, which wrapped up in an awarding ceremony on Saturday.

Malaysia’s contender bagged the top prize in this category of the competition while Algeria’s representative came third.

Several Iranian Quranic figures, including Hossein Sharifian, Masoud Sayyah Gorji, Hamid Reza Ahmadivafa, Habib Sedaqat and Taha Kabiri posted messages on social media networks, hailing his achievement.

The 60^th edition of Malaysia’s international Quran competition was held from Monday, May 7 to Saturday, May 12, in Kuala Lumpur.

Last year, Iranian Qari Hamed Alizadeh came first in the recitation category of the contest as did his fellow-countryman Mohsen Hajihassani Kargar in 2015.
