TEHRAN (IQNA) – Nineteen pilgrims from Iran were injured after a bus crashed on a road in Iraq’s Najaf Governorate.

According to Al-Sumaria News, the accident happened in Najaf.

There was no word about the cause of the crash or where the pilgrims were heading. 

The Health Department of Najaf put the number of those injured in the crash at 19, saying some of them who have suffered fractures have been sent to hospital for treatment.  

Most of those injured are in good conditions now, the Health Department added.

Every year millions of Iranians travel to Iraq on pilgrimage to visit Shia holy sites in the Arab country.

They mostly visit the holy mausoleum of Imam Ali (AS) in Najaf and the holy shrines of Imam Hussein (AS) and Hazrat Abbas (AS) in Karbala.
