Why Is It Important to Know Sins?
Imagine two neighboring gardens that are in the same climate, have the same plants, and receive the same amount of water and light. The gardener in one of them is very careful not to allow weeds to grow and not to harm the plants.
The plants in this garden are certainly in good condition, and it is full of flowers, buds, and fruit.
The other garden, on the other hand, has a gardener who is indifferent or ignorant of what harms the plants. The result is a withered garden with no flowers and worm-eaten fruit.
Human beings are like that too. If they pay no attention to what harms them mentally, spiritually and physically, they will turn into a menacing person, but if they are careful not to allow those things to harm them, they will become dignified persons.
What harms humans spirituality are sins and moral vices and all messengers of God and divine books have advised us to avoid them.
Imam Ali (AS) said: What harms humans’ soul and spirit is greed and attachment to the world.
And it has been narrated from Imam Sadiq (AS) that what harms the religion and faith are envy, selfishness and haughtiness.
