Digital Museum of Imam Reza Shrine Showcases a Wealth of Artistic Treasures Globally

IQNA – The digital museum affiliated with the Organization of Libraries, Museums, and Documents, operating under the auspices of the Imam Reza (AS) shrine, has emerged as a global magnet for enthusiasts of Iranian-Islamic culture and history.

 

Employing cutting-edge digital technologies, the museum has successfully digitized a rich collection of artistic works, eliminating geographical and temporal constraints for its audience. This innovative approach allows individuals worldwide to explore the museum's exquisite collections through virtual platforms.

Adel Matouri, the head of the digital section in the Organization of Libraries, Museums, and Documents, highlighted the museum's impressive 80-year history, ranking it among the oldest in the country. The digitalization initiative for cultural and artistic works within the organization commenced in 2016, and significant strides have been made since then.

According to Matouri, the documentation and presentation of the exceptional works in the Imam Reza shrine museums began in 2019, involving extensive photography and scanning processes. The digital section adopted various documentation measures, including motion graphics, video clips, infographics, and posters.

Over the past three years, the digital team has successfully digitized around 10,000 works, making them accessible on virtual platforms. Matouri assured that additional works are currently in the pipeline for digitization.
