TEHRAN (IQNA) – Three members of an Egyptian family have managed to learn the Quran by heart with different Qira’ats (various ways of reciting the Holy Book).

The two sisters and one brother live in the country’s northeastern governorate of Damietta, according to El-Balad News.

Mirna is the oldest sibling. She is 15 and has already learned 26 Juzes (parts) of the Holy Quran by heart.

She started memorizing the Quran at the age of 10 and is going to memorize the entire Holy Book in the near future.

She is also talented in writing poetry and attends cultural activities at school and in neighborhood.

Khaled, who is 13, has committed 22 Juzes to memory. He has learned the Quran in the Qira’at of Hafs from Asim.

Khaled, who is also good in the recitation of Adhan (call to prayer), says he has been interested in memorizing and reciting the Quran since early childhood.

Dunya, the second sister who is also 13, started memorizing the Quran at 5 and has learned 26 Juzes by heart in the Qira’at of Warsh from Nafi.

Qira’at (recitations or readings) are different linguistic, lexical, phonetic, morphological and syntactical forms permitted with reciting the Holy Book of Islam. Differences between Qiraʼat are slight and include varying rules regarding the prolongation, intonation, and pronunciation of words, but also differences in stops, vowels, consonants (leading to different pronouns and verb forms), and less frequently entire words.
