The types of Tawheed, according to Islam, include:
1- Tawheed of Dhat (essence), which is the belief in the fact that there is no one like God in Dhat.
2- Tawheed of Sifat (attributes), which means God’s attributes like knowledge, power, etc are the same as His Dhat, according to Surah Al-Ikhlas: “Say: ‘He is Allah, the One. Allah is He on Whom all depend. He neither begets nor was He begotten. And there is none equal to Him.’”
3- Tawheed in worshipping, which means none other than God is worthy of being worshipped. “And We did not send before you any messenger but We revealed to him that there is no god but Me, therefore worship Me.” (Verse 25 of Surah Al-Anbiya)
4- Tawheed of Afa’al (actions), which means everything done in the world is done with God’s permission.
Tawheed of Afa’al is itself two kinds:
A- Tawheed of Khallaqiyya (creation), which means God is the Creator of all beings:
“People, remember the blessings of Allah to you. Except for Allah, is there any other creator who provides for you out of heaven and earth?” (Verse 3 of Surah Al-Fatir)
“That is Allah, your Lord. There is no god except He, the Creator of all things. Therefore, worship Him. He is the Guardian of all things.” (Verse 102 of Surah Al-An’am)
B- Tawheed of Rububiyyah (Oneness of Allah’s Lordship), which means God is the one who runs the world.
“Say: ‘Should I seek a lord other than Allah, who is the Lord of all things?’” (Verse 164 of Surah Al-An’am)
