How Quran Describes God

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Attributes of God are mentioned in numerous verses of the Quran and studying them can help us have a better understanding about the Creator of the world.

Allah

 

Some of the verses of the Quran in which attributes of God are mentioned are as follows:

1- God is peerless:

“There is certainly nothing like Him. He is All-hearing and All-aware.” (Verse 11 of Surah Ash-Shura)

2- God absolutely needs no one while all need Him:

“People, you are always in need of God and God is Self-sufficient and Praiseworthy.” (Verse 15 of Surah Fatir)

3- God cannot be seen with physical eyes:

“No mortal eyes can see Him, but He can see all eyes. He is All-kind and All-aware.” (Verse 103 of Surah Al-An’am)

4- God is aware of all things:

“God has the knowledge of all things.” (Verse 62 of Surah Al-Ankabut)

5- God is omnipotent and has power over all things:

“Blessed is He in whose hands is the Kingdom and who has power over all things.” (Verse 1 of Surah Al-Mulk)

6- God is omnipresent. He is everywhere:

“Wherever you turn, you are always in the presence of God.” (Verse 115 of Surah Al-Baqarah)

7- God is aware of everything that goes on in our minds:

“We swear that We have created the human being and We know what his soul whispers to him.” (Verse 16 of Surah Qaaf)

8- God is closer to man than his jugular vein.  

“We are closer to him than even his jugular vein.” (Verse 16 of Surah Qaaf)

9- God is self-subsisting:

“Allah is He besides Whom there is no god, the Everliving, the Self-subsisting by Whom all subsist.” (Verse 255 of Surah Al-Baqarah)

10- God never sleeps:

“Slumber does not overtake Him nor sleep.” (Verse 255 of Surah Al-Baqarah)

11- God is the Creator of all beings:

“There is no god except He, the Creator of all things.” (Verse 102 of Surah Al-An’am)

12- The entire universe belongs to Him:

“To Allah belongs the Kingdom of the heavens and the earth and what is in them. He has power over all things.” (Verse 120 of Surah Al-Ma’idah)

13- He is the Lord of all universe:

“It is only God, Lord of the heavens and the earth and Lord of the Universe who deserves all praise.” (Verse 36 of Surah Al-Jathiya)

14- Life and death are in His hands:

“It is God who gives life and causes people to die.” (Verse 156 of Surah Al-Imran)

15- All the universe submits to Him:

“All that is in the heavens and the earth have submitted themselves to His will.” (Verse 83 of Surah Al-Imran)

16- He has no peers or partners:

“He has not begotten a son and has no partner in His Kingdom” (Verse 111 of Surah Al-Isra)

17- All beings need Him:

“Everyone in the heavens and the earth depends on Him.” (Verse 29 of Surah Al-Rahman)

18- Dignity and humiliation are in His hands:

“You give authority to whomever You want and take it away from whomever You want. You give honor to whomever You want and humiliate whomever You want. In Your hands is all virtue and You have power over all things.” (Verse 26 of Surah Al-Imran)  

19- He is the provider of all beings’ sustenance:

“It is God Who is the Sustainer and the Lord of invincible strength.” (Verse 58 of Surah Ad-Dhariyat)
