IQNA – A major part of Surah Al Imran is about the stories of divine prophets, including Adam (AS), Noah (AS), Abraham (AS), Moses (AS) and Jesus (AS).

Al Imran is the name of the third chapter of the Holy Quran. It is Madani (revealed in Median), has 200 verses, and is in the third and fourth Juzes of the Holy Book.

The name of the Surah is Al Imran because it mentions the name of Mary’s father, Imran, and his family.

There various topics mentioned in this chapter, including the Battle of Uhud, Jihad, Mubahila, inviting Jews to Islam, enjoining patience and steadfastness, and the virtues of martyrs. There are also several beautiful prayers in this Surah.

In general, the content of the Surah can be divided into the following categories:

1- A major part of the Surah discusses Tawheed (monotheism), the attributes of God, resurrection, and Islamic teachings.

2- Another part is about Jihad and important commandments about it, the everlasting life of those martyred on the path of God, and the lessons of the Battles of Badr and Uhud.

3- In part of the Surah, there are references to a number of Islamic rulings about the need for unity among Muslims, the Kaaba, the Hajj pilgrimage, promotion of virtue and prevention of vice, charity, abandoning lies, steadfastness against the enemy, and patience in the face of problems and adversities.

4- In order to complement these issues, there are reference to the stories of divine messengers, such as Adam (AS), Noah (AS), Abraham (AS), Moses (AS) and Jesus (AS). The story of Mary (SA) and her virtues and status are also mentioned in the Surah.
