First Quran Translation in Dusun Language to Be Launched in Malaysia

IQNA – The first translation of the Holy Quran in the Dusun language is scheduled to be released in Malaysia’s Sabah State on March 31.

The Pertubuhan Kadazan Dusun Murut Muslim Semalaysia (KDMRS Muslim) Chairman, Nicholas Sylvester, said the event will be officiated by Head of State, Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.

“Through this translation, the teachings of Islam can be conveyed in a language that is more accessible for the local community to understand,” he said during a visit to Istana Seri Kinabalu.

“The translation process involves panel members who are experts in Arabic, as well as experienced in language and religious studies,” he added.

“With their expertise, the translation of the Al-Quran into Sabah’s ethnic languages can be of high quality and meet established standards.”

The Quran translation project, initiated in 2019, represents a significant endeavor by KDMRS Muslim in their mission to spread da’wah throughout the state.

Dusun, also known as Bunduliwan, is an Austronesian language and one of the more widespread languages spoken by the Dusun peoples of Sabah, Malaysia.
