Omar Abdullah Shallah, a writer and political analyst and one of the former leader of the Islamic Jihad movement (brother of martyr Ramadan Shallah, one of the founders of the movement), in an interview with IQNA elaborated on the dimensions of the character of Martyr Nasrallah, the late secretary general of the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah.
Nasrallah is a martyr of the path of al-Quds, and the Islamic resistance had penetrated deep into his soul, Shallah said.
“The personality of this martyr of resistance has many dimensions, and he was able to have a strong presence and influence throughout the world, not just among Muslims and Arabs, but also among non-Arabs and the free people of the world. Martyr Nasrallah was a divine saint, a wise man and an inspiring leader who was able to present new views on various issues at every stage.”
The Palestinian expert added that Nasrallah was a unifying man and a man of the Ummah, not the leader of a particular group, sect or clan. “He was a man of unity and Islam was of primary importance to him and he considered jihad and the struggle for Palestine to be in line with the line of Islam.
“Martyr Nasrallah was renowned for his ethics, spirituality, and hard work. We heard from his friends and relatives that he was a sincere and tireless person who worked for the sake of Islam and Palestine. All of these characteristics were present in him. This was a divine blessing that God had bestowed upon him. Despite his martyrdom, this resistance leader is still present among us.”
Referring to the manifestation of Quranic ethics in Nasrallah’s lifestyle, Shallah said, “It cannot be ignored that the Quran was present in all moments of Nasrallah’s life, and the effects of this type of life were completely tangible in his actions and behavior, and his relatives had observed this characteristic.
“The personal life and beliefs, discourse and every part of Nasrallah’s life were derived from the Quran. He spoke mostly about politics; but at the same time he also gave lectures on other issues, including family relations, raising children, economic and military issues, and he was an outstanding human being. The Quran was the main motivation and driving force of his speeches and words, and without a doubt, Sayed Hassan Nasrallah was a man of the Quran and an inspiring human being.”
The analyst added, |We might say that the loss of Nasrallah was an important and sudden event, and it can be said that the Zionists martyred an important and powerful pillar by assassinating Nasrallah. This loss is fully felt because he played an important and prominent role in establishing a connection between the resistance channels in Palestine and the Islamic Republic of Iran. But the existence of the resistance will never be affected by the absence of a person or persons or its leaders. Rather, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement and the Hamas movement have presented many leaders throughout history, and before Nasrallah, Sayed Abbas Mousavi and Ragheb Harb (one of the leaders of Hezbollah in Lebanon) were martyred in the cause of resistance.”
He noted that each time, Hezbollah and the Palestinian resistance have emerged stronger, more effective, more determined, and more eager to continue the path of resistance after the loss of these leaders.
“While they may have been somewhat affected by these losses, the resistance movements will be able to continue the jihad and struggle in Palestine (and Lebanon) until the occupation is eradicated and the occupiers are destroyed. Because when a resistance leader is lost, thousands of other leaders will rise up behind him and continue his path.”

Shallah further referred to Nasrallah’s position in Palestine and said the late leader holds a great and important position among the Palestinians.
“He was an inspiration to resistance and freedom movements in the world, and at the forefront of that resistance is the Palestinian resistance. The memory of that late leader will be with the Palestinians as long as Palestine exists.”
The resistance will not be disarmed
Asked about attempts at disarming resistance movements, he said, “We cannot say that the absence of Martyr Nasrallah has had an impact on the stability and steadfastness of the Palestinians and the issue of disarmament, because Hezbollah and other resistance groups are themselves institutions and political schools of thought that have their own priorities and literature, and follow their own methods in decision-making. If we consider them related to one person, we should say that the absence of Nasrallah will have an impact on the issue of disarmament and will make things easier for those who seek to disarm the resistance, especially the United States and Israel. But this is not the case.
This Palestinian analyst stated, “Loyalty to Nasrallah’s school and his Quranic thoughts and ideas continues among all his followers, and everyone, men and women, old and young, is loyal to Martyr Nasrallah as a leader who had his own unique style of thought, belief, and jihad. They emphasize Martyr Nasrallah’s thought that disarmament means disarming the spirit of resistance, and no one accepts this.”

Shallah concluded by emphasizing, “I believe that the absence of Nasrallah will not have an impact on this issue. On the contrary, preserving his will is now an important duty and responsibility, and the most important will of the late leader of the resistance was that no one can disarm us.”
