Omani Official Stresses Role of Quran Contest in Promoting Islamic Values

IQNA – A cultural official in Oman said the country’s Sultan Qaboos Quran competition helps to promote genuine Islamic values and principles in the society.

Rashid bin Hamid al-Dughaishi, director of the cultural affairs department at the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science said it enhances Islamic values through attention to the Holy Book, al-Shubaiba website reported. 

He added that the annual competition aims to help raise a generation that is familiar with the Book of God and plays a role in rectifying the society.

It also seeks to identify Quranic talents to represent Oman in international Quran contests, he added.

Over ten years (from 2013 to 2023) a total of 16,118 Omani memorizers competed in the national Quranic event, he stated.

It is held in 7 categories featuring different levels of Quran memorization.
