Every year millions of Muslims from around the world gather in the holy city of Mecca for the annual Hajj.
Iran also sends pilgrims as well as a group of Quran memorizers and reciters, known as the Noor Hajj Convoy.
The members of the delegation hold Quranic programs, including Quran recitation session for the pilgrims in the holy cities of Mecca and Medina.
This year’s Hajj pilgrimage took place in late June.
Iran’s Quranic convoy this year comprised 20 Quran reciters and memorizers as well as a Tawasheeh group.
Those serving in the Iranian Quranic delegation this year included Mehdi Adeli from Tehran, Seyed Karim Mousavi from Khuzestan, Yusuf Qanbari from Zanjan, Hamid Safdari from Razavi Khorasan, Arash Souri from Kermanshah, Seyed Reza Najibi from Fars, Masoud Movahedirad from Razavi Khorasan and Seyed Parsa Angoshtan from Mazandaran.
Speaking to IQNA, Ali Salehi Matin, head of the delegation, said while there was some resistance to the Iranian qaris’ recitations of the Quran in Mecca and Medina at first, the situation changed significantly and they were invited to Quranic circles afterwards.
The Iranian qaris’ performances were warmly received by the pilgrims and some of them gave the reciters gifts, he said.
Salehi Matin said the Quranic circles held for Iranian pilgrims were also hugely welcomed and they called for more such programs.

He said it was not possible to fulfil the pilgrims’ demand as there were a limited number of qaris in the delegation, adding that he told the Iranian Hajj officials to invite more reciters in next year’s Hajj.
He also said the delegation for the first time held Quran recitation sessions during the time of Adhan (call to prayers).
These programs, which were highly welcomed, were organized before the Adhans of Zuhr (noon) and Maghrib (evening) and included Tarteel and Tahqiq recitations of verses from the Quran, he stated.
The performances of the Iranian Tawasheeh group also received a lot of praise, he went on to say.
