Al-Azhar's educational institutions department stated that the initiative seeks to empower students in memorizing the Quran and encourage them to recite more verses daily, fostering a spirit of competition among them, according to Al-Masry Al-Youm.
The statement noted that 6,251 students from various provinces in Egypt have been selected to participate in the initiative, which will be overseen by Mohamed Al-Duwaini, Al-Azhar's representative.
Sheikh Ayman Abdelghani, head of Al-Azhar's educational institutions, explained that the initiative will take place Saturday, in Quran memorization offices and will last for a full day.
Each student will recite their memorized portions to their teacher or an assistant, he said, adding that if a student cannot recite all their memorized portions in one day, they will recite as much as they can.
He added that the activities of Quran Recitation Day will be fully recorded and shared among students to promote competition and encourage participation in such initiatives.

Abul-Yazid Salamat, Director General of Quran Affairs at Al-Azhar's Quranic institutions, detailed the preparation process for reciting memorized Quran portions.
Students practice reciting their memorized portions, which may include three, five, or ten Juzes, or a quarter of the Quran, until they are ready for a complete recitation, he said.
Once a student has memorized the entire Quran, they initially read it completely in ten days, then in seven, six, five, four, three, two days, and finally in one day, with time allocated between Khatm to review and correct mistakes.
He noted that a test will be conducted to assess students' reading and writing skills. If a student is not proficient, they will receive instruction to improve their literacy, Salamat said.
