The ministry said registration for the contest has concluded and work has begun to assess the qualifications of the applicants, Al-Akhbar website reported.
It said the Islamic guidance offices of the ministry will continue the qualification assessment process until September 6.
The age limit for taking part in the competition is 15 to 50 years, the ministry added.
The contenders will compete in four categories that include memorization of the Quran and Hadiths of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), it noted.
