IQNA – The second international Quran and Adhan competition of Ethiopia concluded at Addis Ababa Stadium in the country’s capital city.

The closing ceremony of Ethiopia’s second international Quran and Adhan competition was held at Addis Ababa Stadium on February 3, 2025.

 

The contest was organized by the Zayd Ibn Sabit Quran Association under the supervision of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of Ethiopia.

The prestigious event brought together participants from around the world, highlighting exceptional talents in Quran memorization (Hifz), recitation (Tilawa), and the Adhan (call to prayer).

Following a rigorous evaluation by a distinguished panel of judges, the winners of the International Quran and Azan Competition were officially announced across multiple categories.

In the Men’s Quran Hifz Competition, Muhammad Fuad from Libya secured first place, showcasing exceptional mastery of Quranic memorization.

Yusuf Ashir from Qatar earned second place, while Ahmed Bashir from the United States claimed third place.

The Women’s Quran Hifz Competition also displayed remarkable talent. Ruqya Salah from Yemen emerged as the champion, followed by Nassim Janawuja from Algeria in second place and Kemera Waliyu Muhammad from Ethiopia in third place.

The Adan Competition was another highly competitive category, where Muhammadshan Abubakar from Indonesia took the top position. Umar Duran from Turkey secured second place, while Adam Jibril from Ethiopia finished in third place.

In the Men’s Quran Recitation Competition, Abdurrazak Al-Shehawi from Egypt demonstrated outstanding recitation skills, earning him first place.

Kareer Lais from Iraq achieved second place, while Anjad Kamdan from Yemen rounded out the top three with his impressive performance.

These winners, selected from a pool of talented competitors worldwide, demonstrated exceptional skill, devotion, and mastery of Quranic studies, reflecting the significance of the competition in promoting Islamic scholarship and excellence.

The competition, held from January 29 to February 2, 2025, saw the participation of over 60 countries, making it one of the most significant Islamic events hosted in Ethiopia.

The event attracted a distinguished audience, including representatives from the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs of Ethiopia, the Ulema Office of Addis Ababa, and the Oromia Islamic Affairs High Councils.

Additionally, diplomats, religious scholars, and representatives from various social groups were present to witness the prestigious contest.

According to the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs of Ethiopia, this year’s competition featured 100 contestants from across the globe and was judged by 11 renowned scholars from different continents.

The presence of internationally recognized figures and honored guests added to the event’s significance, further establishing Ethiopia as a key player in hosting international Quranic competitions.
