In a statement issued on the occasion of Ramadan, Taha prayed for Allah’s blessings and serenity to be bestowed upon the Muslim Ummah. He expressed hope that the month would bring an end to crises and conflicts affecting Muslim populations globally, OIC’s official website reported on Friday.
The Secretary-General voiced deep sorrow over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which has endured “brutal Israeli aggression” for more than a year and four months. He also condemned the continued Israeli violence in the West Bank, including in occupied East al-Quds and at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Taha expressed his “deep concern over the tragic conditions experienced by the population of the Gaza Strip,” where 15 months of Israeli aggression have destroyed large swaths of the territory, displacing almost all of the population.

He further called attention to the displacement of thousands of Palestinians and the need for urgent international intervention to alleviate their suffering.
Taha also extended prayers for the Palestinian people, expressing hope that they would regain their rights and establish an independent state with Al-Quds as its capital. May this holy month be a “decisive turning point” towards the Palestinian people achieving their destiny, he wished.
