Speaking in a program on Al-Naas TV, Dawood offered explanations about the rhetorical aspects of the miracle of the Holy Quran.
He referred to Verse 37 of Surah Yaseen, “A sign for them is the night. From it We withdraw the day and they are in darkness,” and said the Quran is distinguished by its unparalleled rhetorical excellence.
He said the word Naslakh in this verse is very precise in escribing how the day turns into the night.
It comes from the word al-Salkh that means peeling away the skin of a slaughtered sheep, he noted.
Using any other word to describe this phenomenon would have weakened the rhetorical meaning because the darkness of the night does not arrive all at once.
“Rather, (the light of the day) gradually recedes, just as the skin is peeled away from a sheep’s body.”
He stressed that this noble verse highlights the greatness of the Holy Quran in describing cosmic phenomena in a miraculous way, urging everyone to reflect on the divine verses and contemplate their meanings.
