Turkish Memorizer Recites Quran at Historic Sarajevo Mosque in Ramadan

IQNA – Selujuq Gultekin, a Quran reciter from Turkey, has traveled to Bosnia and Herzegovina in the holy month of Ramadan to recite the Quran at the historic Hunkar Mosque in Sarajevo.

As well as reciting the Quran during Taraweeh prayers on the nights of Ramadan, he takes part in a traditional Quranic program at the mosque during which each person recites one verse or Surah of the Quran and the others follow along. 

During Ramadan, 24 Quran memorizers from Turkey have been dispatched to Bosnia and Herzegovina to recite the Quran in various cities of the country.

They help to create a spiritual atmosphere during this sacred time for the Muslim community in Bosnia.

One of them is Gultekin who has been sent to the Hunkar Mosque in the capital. This mosque, built by the Ottoman government after the conquest of Bosnia in 1457, is considered one of the cultural and religious symbols of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Speaking to Anadolu, Gultekin expressed his satisfaction with taking part in the Ramadan programs at the mosque, stating that serving the people in this historic mosque is a source of pride for him.

“It is truly an honor for me to serve in a country with such a rich historical and cultural heritage.”

He noted the respect he has received from the people of Bosnia since his arrival in the country, adding that Bosnians have a great affection for memorizers of the Quran.
