Thai King, Queen Attend Inauguration of Milad-un-Nabi Celebrations

IQNA – This year’s Milad-un-Nabi celebrations, marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) were launched in Bangkok, Thailand, with the country’s king and queen in attendance.

Among others attending the event were the Thai prime minister, deputy premiers, and ambassadors of different countries to Thailand, including Iranian Ambassador Nasreddin Heidari and Cultural Attaché Mehdi Zare Bieyb. 

At the beginning of the ceremony, top Quran reciters received their awards from the king, followed by a summary of the biography of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) read to the attendees and the king by the head of the Thailand Muslims Council.

Then, as part of the program, gifts were presented by King Maha Vajiralongkorn to the ambassadors and foreign diplomats as a token of appreciation and remembrance of their presence.

Afterwards, the King visited cultural and religious exhibitions, viewing works related to the life of the Holy Prophet of Islam (PBUH), Halal economic activities, and Islamic art and culture.

Thailand’s Milad-un-Nabi Festival has been held annually since 1965, and this year marks its 58th edition.

The celebration is held in collaboration with Muslims across the country and aims to honor the teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) while promoting ethics, love, and peaceful coexistence within Thai society.

The King of Thailand, who has been a supporter of this festival since his time as Crown Prince, has played a significant role in backing Islamic activities, religious education, the development of Muslim communities, and the enhancement of national unity.

Continuing his father's legacy, he not only supports Islamic programs but has also implemented numerous projects to support Muslim communities, especially in the southern regions of the country. These efforts reflect mutual respect and solidarity between the Muslim population and the Thai royal family.
