Seyed Mehdi Sheikholeslami, who is a member of Iran’s Quranic Convoy for Hajj, made the remark in an interview with IQNA in Mecca.
He said that alongside the mission entrusted to each member of the convoy, they can use this spiritual journey as an opportunity to interact with Quran reciters from other Islamic countries.
Highlighting the need to react to the Israeli regime’s ongoing crimes in Palestine and Gaza, he said the common language of all those present in Hajj is the Quran and, therefore, by reciting verses that convey themes of defending the oppressed and resisting the tyrants, the qaris can fulfill their human duty and raise a cry for justice.
The atmosphere of Quran recitation during the Hajj journey is very different from that of other Quranic circles, he stated.
This difference is due to the sensitivity and spirituality of Hajj, and it certainly brings a different experience for young qaris, said Sheikholeslami, who is 21 years old and the youngest member of the Quranic convoy.
He added, “I am very happy to have the opportunity to join the Quranic convoy and travel to the Land of Revelation alongside the internationally acclaimed and veteran qaris, and so I have made every effort to add to my experience in addition to fulfilling the task for which I have been commissioned.”
Every year, millions of Muslims from around the world travel to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, for this annual pilgrimage, and Iran also sends a number of Quran activists alongside its pilgrims
The Quranic convoy for Hajj, known as the Noor (light) Quranic Convoy is part of Iran’s broader efforts to enhance the religious experience of its pilgrims by organizing Quran-related programs during Hajj.
