The delay has been caused due to the Israeli regime’s attacks on Iran that began on June 13.
Seyed Mohammad Hadi Qassemi, a member of the Quranic Convoy, said that in the past few days, five members of this convoy have returned to the country but most of them remain in Saudi Arabia.
Referring to the extension of the convoy’s plans, he said a large number of the members will be present in the Land of Revelation at least until the end of this week.
Currently, 15 members of the convoy are present in the Land of Revelation and are performing Quranic programs for the pilgrims in Mecca and Medina, he noted.
Given the current circumstances and the fact that the return of pilgrims is taking place by land, this process is progressing slowly, and a large number of pilgrims are still present in Mecca and Medina, waiting to return to the country, Qassemi stated.
“For this reason, the Quranic Convoy is still conducting Quranic programs for Iranian pilgrims energetically and in high spirits.”
According to the plans made, the convoy will continue to serve Iranian pilgrims until the beginning of the month of Muharram (June 27), in order to maintain the spiritual atmosphere among the pilgrims, he went on to say.
Every year millions of Muslims from around the world gather in the Mecca for the annual Hajj.
Iran also sends pilgrims as well as a groups of Quran activists, known as the Noor Hajj Delegation.
