IQNA – The International Quran Competition for Muslim Students provides an opportunity to soften and spiritually enrich the university atmosphere with the recitation of the Quran, an official said.

Ali Montazeri, the head of the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR), speaking to IQNA

Ali Montazeri, the head of the Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR), made the remark in an interview with IQNA, expressing hope that Quran enthusiasts, especially students, will take advantage of such events within the university environment.

An important point about the competition is that by holding this event, students in the country’s universities will get acquainted with a cultural movement on an international level and get desirable insights from it.

Montazeri, who is the head of the policy-making council of the competition’s 7th edition, added such competitions can help enhance cultural vitality in universities.

Asked about the impact of the contest on creating a more Quranic atmosphere in universities, he said, “We should not expect the competitions alone to work miracles, but these programs can play a very effective role in moving toward a Quranic environment. Before expecting the university to become more Quranic through such events, we officials must first make our own behavior and actions Quranic. If we ourselves adhere to the teachings of the Quran, the university will naturally be influenced by this Quranic conduct.”

Montazeri went on to say, “When we ourselves pay little attention to the verses of the Quran, we should not expect any program to perform miracles. The Quran’s response in this regard is clear: ‘O you who have believed, why do you say what you do not do?’ (Verse 2 of Surah Saff) Therefore, to create a Quranic atmosphere at the university, above all, our actions as officials must be Quranic.”

The 7th edition of the International Quran Competition for Muslim Students is planned to be held in Iran this year.

The Iranian Academics’ Quranic Organization, affiliated to the ACECR, has organized the competition since 2006 with the aim of promoting unity and cooperation among Muslim world students and elevating the level of Quranic activities.

This year’s event comes following six successful editions of the competition, which hosted participants from over 85 countries and had a significant impact on Quranic and cultural engagement across the Islamic world.

The 6th edition took place in the holy city of Mashhad, northeast of Iran, in April 2018.
